Walkley Train Yards

Walkley Train Yards

The Walkley Train Yards (Home of the O-Train) at 3101 Albion Road North will open their doors for Train displays and guided tours. The Walkley Yard was built by the National Capital Commission in 1955 so CN freight trains could vacate the lands needed to build the Queensway. In 1967, Canadian Pacific moved to the yards from Lebreton Flats. The City of Ottawa leased the facility from CP in 2001 for Bombardier to handle indoor maintenance of the Ottawa’s three O-Trains.

Activities and Displays - Saturday, June 2,  10 am - 4 pm
  • Guided tours of the Bombardier Talent Train (every half hour on the hour)
  • Guided tours through the operations department (every half hour on the hour)
  • Bombardier displays of the smaller components

How to access the Train Yards at 3101 Albion Road North - enter off Walkley Rd., east of Bank St. (see map)

Regional Transit Pass

Smartcard Introduction

Changes will be coming to OC Transpo passes when the PRESTO smartcard is introduced later this year. Although you won’t be able to use PRESTO on Routes 500-565, a new Regional transit pass will be introduced for anyone riding on these rural partner bus routes.

OC Transpo’s old-style paper passes will be gradually phased out as PRESTO is phased-in.

New Regional Transit Pass

The new Regional transit pass will be effective July 1, 2012 and will be available through your rural transit provider by June 18. Like your current pass, the Regional pass will also be accepted on OC Transpo and STO (Société de transport de l’Outaouais) routes - www.sto.ca.

Get your new photo ID card soon

Before July 1, you’ll need a new OC Transpo “Regional” photo ID card which is now available at the following OC Transpo Sales and Information Centres for $8.50 (price valid until June 30, 2012):

Rideau Centre
  Monday to Friday ... 8:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.
  Saturday .............. 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  Sunday ................ 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

St. Laurent, Lincoln Fields, Place d’Orléans
  Monday to Friday ... 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Although you can buy your new Regional photo ID anytime, it cannot be used before July 1 as it must be paired with the Regional monthly pass. Don’t forget to write your new photo ID number onto your monthly pass. Your pass is invalid without this number and it helps to protect against fraud in case the pass is lost.
