Cooperative Seating
What is Cooperative Seating?
Cooperative or priority seating areas are available near the front of our buses and the O-Train's entrances. These seats are intended for customers who may have difficulty standing in a moving vehicle, including:
- Persons with disabilities
- Senior citizens
- Persons with assistive devices, such as wheelchairs, scooters, walkers and canes
- Pregnant women
- Customers with open strollers
OC Transpo encourages all customers to be courteous and yield the cooperative seating to those who need it. As well, please remember that many customers do not have an obvious disability, but may need these seats because of an invisible disability.
Priority Seating Card
If you have an invisible disability and need to sit in the cooperative seating area, you can obtain a Priority Seating Card at no charge. This card identifies you as being eligible for priority seating.
To get a Priority Seating Card, follow these steps:

Print an application form, get one from any OC Transpo Sales and Information Centre, or call us at 613-842-3625 (TTY: 613-741-5280) and we will mail one to you.

Fill out the form and ask a healthcare professional (doctor, nurse, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist, etc) to sign the form.

Bring your form to any OC Transpo Sales and Information Centre.

Staff will take your photo and give you your Priority Seating Card.
Promoting Cooperative Seating
OC Transpo has ongoing cooperative seating campaigns to encourage customers to keep these seats open for those who require priority seating:
- Posters were created by Grade 9 art students from Longfields-Davidson Heights Secondary School
- Videos were created by Algonquin College's television broadcasting and public relations programs to promote the importance of cooperative seating
