Safety and Travel Tips

While riding Para Transpo

passenger safetySeat Belt Use

For safety reasons, customers must use the passenger restraint seat belts provided on the Para Transpo vehicles. Not using the safety seat belts could result in injuries to you, other passengers and Para Transpo drivers.

Should you have a disability that prevents you from using the full safety equipment provided on the bus, please contact the Para Transpo office. Medical certification will be requested regarding applicability of passenger restraint seat belts.

Wheelchair (Scooter) Loading and Unloading

All Para Transpo clients using wheelchairs or scooters must back onto the lift from ground level for safety reasons. The driver will assist manoeuvring the wheelchair or scooter backwards onto the lift if requested by the passenger.

When the lift has reached the level of the vehicle floor, please do not back into the bus yourself, but let the driver assist you.

If you use a three-wheeled powered wheelchair, you are encouraged to transfer to a seat.

When exiting the vehicle, clients using wheelchairs or scooters should now face outward on the lift. Please wait for the driver to assist you onto the vehicle lift. Once the lift has been lowered to ground level, wait to be assisted by the driver before leaving the lift area so as not to create an unsafe condition for yourself or the Para Transpo bus driver.

NOTE: Drivers cannot handle parcels and groceries so customers should only take what they can carry on to the vehicle and control while the vehicle is in motion.

Animals are not permitted on board, except registered service animals.
