Passenger Assistance Alarm (PAA)
The Passenger Assistance Alarm (PAA) has been installed on the articulated buses (double long buses) and the double decker buses in order to further ensure passenger safety.
The PAA provides customers with a system to notify the bus operator when there is an emergency at the back of the bus.
The PAA is only to be used in the event that the passenger cannot reach the operator at the front of the bus to notify them of the emergency.
Ensuring the safety and security of our passengers and operators is our priority. Similar to the emergency call boxes at shelters, the PAA offers passengers further assurance that they can feel safe when using transit.
Are the passenger assistance alarms on all buses?
The Passenger Assistance Alarms (PAA)s are installed only on the:
- Articulated buses (double long buses) and
- Double decker buses.
Where are the PAA's located on the bus?
- Articulated Buses: At the rear if the bus in 2 locations.
- Double Decker Bus: On the top deck, near the stairs
What happens when I push the button?
The operator will stop the bus when it is safe, make an announcement to customers over the PA system, and inform the Control Centre. Further steps would depend upon the situation.
