Following public consultations, we are introducing changes to service in Greenboro East to reduce duplication of service, maintain access and connections to transit for our customers and provide an opportunity for future growth. Starting June 19, modified Routes 43 and 114 replace Route 143, which is cancelled. Route 98 does not change and continues to offer frequent rapid service in the area. We are also opening a customer drop-off and pick-up spot on the upper level of Greenboro Station.

Completing the Transitway closure from Blair to Tunney’s Pasture

  • Corridor to reopen in 2018 as O-Train Confederation Line
  • Tunney’s Pasture Station remains open with changes to bus routing and stops
    • Lower level closed
    • All routes serve a new platform on the upper level
    • On the weekend of June 24 to 26, buses use temporary stops on Scott street
  • Westboro Station lower level closed temporarily on the weekend of June 24 to 26

The segment of the Transitway roadway from Merton Street to Tunney’s Pasture station is closing on June 24. This is the final closure required for construction to convert the Transitway corridor from Blair to Tunney’s Pasture into the Confederation Line light-rail system. Tunney’s Pasture station remains open (but the lower-level closes). Buses use bus-only lanes on Scott Street instead of the Transitway and serve a new platform on the upper level. On the weekend of June 24 to 26, buses use temporary stops on Scott street.

Changes to Route 43

Route 43 is modified to travel from Bank Street south to Hunt Club Road and then north along the Transitway to Hurdman Station. Travel time and connections did not change. Afternoon trips follow a reverse pattern.
Route 43 is removed from Bank Street between Cahill and Walkley Road, which continues to be served by Route 1 and by revised Route 114 south of Johnson.

Changes to Route 114

Route 114 is modified to operate from Karsh and Lorry Greenberg via Conroy, Johnston, Bank and Hunt Club to the Transitway, replacing Route 143. Some trips also serve Tapiola on an hourly basis.

Benefits

  • Shorter travel time — 7 to 9 min. — for most customers
  • More frequent and expanded hours of service for residents in the Johnston Road area
  • New, direct connection to Elmvale and St-Laurent for residents near Johnston Road
  • Improved service to growth areas

Residents in the south half of the community continue to have frequent service on Route 98. Customers travelling to Elmvale or St-Laurent can connect to Route 114 at Lorry Greenberg at Conroy or Johnston. Some customers have a slightly longer walking distance or travel time.
