What is Mobi?
octranspo.mobi is a website available to OC Transpo riders who use their cell phone, Blackberry or other PDA to browse the web. Information provided at octranspo.mobi is specially formatted to download quickly and fit on a small screen. This means it’s accessible wherever you have mobile web access.
Use our octranspo.mobi feature to look up a bus stop schedule, a route timetable, or to plan your entire trip using the OC Transpo Travel Planner.
.mobi Costs
Some cell phone plans offer unlimited browsing and no extra charge to use the octranspo.mobi applications. However, some plans charge extra for web browsing. A typical travel plan uses about 75 kb of data, so if your plan charges .03 a kb, that means your travel plan will cost about $2.25. A typical route schedule lookup uses about 32 kb of data. Check with your service provider to determine your browsing costs.
.mobi Travel Planner
If you’ve used the Travel Planner at octranspo.com, then you’ll be familiar with most of the features available on the .mobi version. Enter an origin and destination using a street address, an intersection, a 4-digit bus stop number if you know it – or choose from a list of hundreds of landmarks around the city.
The .mobi travel planner will provide you with a customized itinerary, including what routes to take, where to transfer – even walking instructions from point to point.
You can create the travel plan itinerary whenever and wherever you want – and if you bookmark the solution, it will still be available on your mobile browser for easy reference later on.
.mobi Pocket Timetable
Use your mobile browser to create electronic “pocket timetables” for the bus routes you use most often. Choose up to three stop-locations along the route, and the E-Pocket Timetable will display all the scheduled trip departure times at the locations you have chosen.
Use your mobile web browser to bookmark the solution – then you’ll have speedy access to the timetable wherever you travel during the day.
.mobi Bus Stop Schedule
If you know the 4-digit number for your bus stop, you can use your mobile browser to display all the departure times for bus routes serving your stop. Look up the 4-digit number here on our Google bus stop map, or check the number the next time you use your stop. Don’t forget to bookmark the display for future reference.
How is it working?
We’ve tested the .mobi services with many different browsers, but there are probably several others in use which we haven’t tried. Please let us know if you encounter any problems or have any suggestions about improving octranspo.mobi.
