Passes and transfers from both transit agencies can be used to ride on either service.

Transferring from OC Transpo to STO


Effective January 2010

OC Transpo passes, transfers, O-Train tickets and DayPass* are accepted as full fare on regular STO (Société de transport de l'Outaouais) routes.

  • When boarding an STO express bus, a $0.50 top-up is required.
  • When boarding an STO Interzone bus, a $2.85 top-up is required; for students and seniors, a $2.10 top-up is required.

* The DayPass cannot be used as a “family pass” on STO service.

OC Transpo bus tickets are not accepted on the STO system.

CNIB and Ontario Guide Dog and Access cards are not accepted on STO buses.

Attendants ride free on STO when the customer has an OC Transpo attendant card.


Ontario Residency Card:

Before 9 a.m., the Ontario Residency Card is REQUIRED if you use an OC Transpo bus pass to board an STO bus OUTSIDE the downtown areas of the Hull sector and Ottawa or at the Rivermead and Les Promenades Park-and-Ride. This card is available for purchase at any of the STO's Issuing Centres for the price of $8.00 including taxes. Proof of Ontario residency and a completed application form are required. 

The Ontario Residency Card is NOT REQUIRED AFTER 9 AM, and is also not required if boarding an STO bus INSIDE the downtown areas of the Hull sector and Ottawa at any time. 

NOTE: Residents of Quebec must use STO transit tickets or a Smart card.

Transferring from STO to OC Transpo


STO (Société de transport de l'Outaouais) Smart Cards, transfers and 'Passe-Temps' are accepted as full fare on all 'regular-fare' OC Transpo routes and the O-Train.

  • When boarding an OC Transpo express bus, a top-up fare of $1 or 1 OC Transpo bus ticket is required.
  • When boarding an OC Transpo Rural Express bus, a top-up fare of $2 or 2 OC Transpo bus tickets is required.

Smart Card users must show the bus operator their receipt, with the exception of customers with a “Programme Employeur” or “Programme Fidelité” card. Receipts must be legible in order to be accepted as valid fare. Faded receipts should be replaced - contact STO for more information. Student “School Days Only” vouchers are not accepted.

The Passe-Temps cannot be used as a “family pass” on OC Transpo.

STO bus tickets are not accepted on the OC Transpo system.

Children 11 and under with a “Smart Card” are not required to top up the fare.

Seniors age 65 and older with a Senior “Smart Card” are not required to top up the fare.

Children age 5 and under ride for free.

Attendants ride free when the customer has an STO attendant card.
