Travel Tips & Safety
At a stop that serves more than one route, hand-signal the approaching bus you wish to stop so that the driver knows you wish to board.
Don’t walk on the Transitway roadway except at designated crosswalks.
Stay clear of the O-Train tracks, except at designated crossings. At designated crossings, do not cross when the signals are flashing. Look both ways before crossing. The trains are quiet and can approach more quickly than they appear to be travelling.
Be aware of your surroundings. Familiarize yourself with stations, and know where the nearest yellow emergency callbox is located.
Keep to well-lit areas after dark or travel with someone if possible.
If you’re lost or feel sick, harassed or threatened, hail any OC Transpo vehicle, speak to any OC Transpo employee or use the yellow emergency callbox.

Yellow emergency call boxes are located throughout stations and in each elevator. Use them in an emergency, if you or someone else needs help or if you feel threatened. Press the button and you’ll be connected with our Security Control Centre via intercom.
For a more private conversation, use any pay phone in the station to make a free, direct, no-dial call to Security— just press the “Security” button located under the number pad.
Closed circuit TV cameras monitor major station platforms, and all stations are patrolled by Transit Law Enforcement Officers.
After 9 p.m., use the Night Stop instead of your regular bus stop. Night Stops are located in central, well-lit areas.
Stand back from the edge of the platform.
At O-Train stations, do not wait on the platform extenders.
Use the elevator if you have a child in a stroller.
Do not cycle, skateboard or roller-skate in stations - walk your bike and carry your board or skates.
